Popular meta-search engine Torrentz clone resurfaces online

The popular torrent aggregating website shut its operations last week silently' after leaving an emotional message for its users.

A clone of popular Finland-based meta-search engine Torrentz has remerged online after it officially shut down its main website operations last week.

The new clone torrentz2.eu repapered online on Tuesday to continue the legacy of one of the more popular names among the list of torrent sharing websites.

The popular torrent aggregating website shut its operations last week ‘silently’ after leaving an emotional message for its users.

One of the main reasons for the closure of the website can be linked with the unfortunate fate suffered by Kickass Torrents, where the alleged owner Artem Vaulin was arrested and the world’s most popular piracy website was shut down.

The site, launched as a normal search platform in 2003, was one of the oldest and most hyped platforms for searching torrent files.

It expanded its operation later to become a meta-search engine; it even gave option to copyright holders to block certain files.

With the recent crack down on online pirated content providing websites, most websites might have to shut down operations to avoid further legal burdens.

However, a large section of people explained that taking down torrent websites will not curb piracy as there are many other factors that lead to circulation of pirated content.
