1 of 10 smartphones run Android Marshmallow: report

The statistics report was collected during a seven-day period ending on June 6.

One of ten devices now runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0, according to the data released by Google.

The statistics report collected during a seven-day period ending on June 6 showed that Android 6.0 Marshmallow now runs on 10.1 per cent of active devices, increased by 2.6 compared to last month figure of 7.5 per cent.

The report, posted on Google page, Dashboard, is based on a study about the relative number of devices running on various versions of the Android platform. Google gathered these figures from active devices by visiting the Google Play app, which only supports Android 2.2 version and above.

While Android Lollipop has a total share of 35.4 per cent of active Android devices, (with Android 5.0 Lollipop running on 15.4 per cent of devices and Android 5.1 Lollipop on 20 per cent), KitKat has 31.6 per cent of active devices, followed by Jelly Bean (18.9 per cent), Gingerbread (2 per cent), Ice Cream Sandwich (1.9 per cent) and Froyo (0.1 per cent).
