Primary smartphone launches at this year's CES
This year’s CES witnessed a fresh lineup of products in unexpected categories – all the way from wearables to robots and electric cars. We also saw a range of new smartphones being unveiled at the Las Vegas electronics show. We have comprised a list of primary smartphones launched at the event for our readers. Take a look:
ASUS
Taiwan-based electronics group ASUS unveiled a new smartphone which uses Google Tango 3D technology, sports 8GB RAM and will run on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The new device features a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. On the camera front, it sports 23MP camera, depth camera, and motion camera, and is powered by a 3000mAh battery.
The Zenfone AR is the second handset to incorporate the Tango computing platform which allows for indoor mapping, augmented reality and more. Project Tango uses depth sensing and motion tracking to create onscreen 3D experiences, allowing users to get a better picture of a physical environment for functions such as home decoration.
The Zenfone AR will be available in the Q2 2017. ASUS hasn’t yet revealed the price details of the Zenfone AR.

Other specifications of the smartphone include its dual-camera system that comprises of two 12MP cameras, one with a f/1.7-aperture, 25mm wide-angle lens and a second with a 59mm lens. The smartphone is also the first ASUS smartphone with SuperPixel camera technology that enables it to focus incredibly quickly and capture clear photos at night or in low-light environments. ASUS-exclusive hardware and software enhancements boost sensor light-sensitivity by up to four times by intelligently adjusting ISO levels while shooting and applying noise reduction in post-shot processing. SuperPixel technology enables the camera on ZenFone 3 Zoom to have 2.5-times (2.5X) greater light sensitivity than Apple iPhone 7 Plus and 10-times (10X) that of an average smartphone.
ZenFone 3 Zoom has a 5000mAh battery that is sculpted to fit in the phone’s 7.9mm full-metal body. The phone weighs 170 grams and provides up to 42 days of standby time. The smartphone can capture up to 6.4 hours of continuous 4K UHD video on a single charge. ZenFone 3 Zoom can also double as a high-speed power bank for charging other devices.

In terms of specifications, Honor 6X features a 5.5-inch FULL HD IPS display with 2.5 curved glass protection, powered by Kirin 655 octa-core processor (4 x 2.1GHz + 4 x 1.7GHz Cortex-A53) and Mali T830-MO2 GPU. Honor 6X dual camera setup includes a 12MP camera and another 2MP camera, while the smartphone sports an 8MP sensor.
In terms of features, Honor 6X comes with fingerprint sensor, 4G VoLTE support, and hybrid SIM slot. The smartphone is packed with 3340mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based EMUI 4.1 OS.
Honor 6X will be available in gold, silver, grey, blue, and rose gold colour at a price of 999 yuan (approximately Rs 9,999) for the 3GB/ 32GB model, 1299 yuan (approximately Rs 12,990) for the 4GB/32GB model, and 1599 yuan (approximately Rs 15,990) for the 4GB/64GB model. The company has confirmed that the phone would be reaching the Indian market on January 24, 2017.
Xiaomi Mi Mix (White colour variant)
On October 25, 2016, the Chinese tech giant revealed the Mi Mix concept smartphone with near bezel-less display with curved edges on top featuring 91.3 per cent screen-to-body ratio in Black colour. To recall, the concept smartphone features a 6.4-inch display with a 1080x2040 of resolution, sporting a pixel density of 362ppi, and a 94 per cent colour gamut. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 821 processor and offers 4GB/6GB RAM.
The company announced a white colour variant of the same smartphone at CES 2017.
