Truecaller and iOS 10 bring Spam Identification to the masses

Spam calls costs nearly 20 million US consumers more than $7.4 billion dollars annually.

Truecaller is launching its integration of the new CallKit Extension for iOS 10 which will improve identification of Spam calls on user’s iPhone. Spam calls costs nearly 20 million US consumers more than $7.4 billion dollars annually and users in India receive more than 300 million unwanted calls per month.

For any incoming call, the new integration allows Truecaller to automatically identify and display whether a call has been reported as spam or is from a reputable business. This significantly reduces the need to manually search for numbers of unknown calls after a call is left unanswered.

“Working closely with Apple over the past few months, we’re proud to bring a call solution to your iPhone to provide safe and authentic communication,” says Tom Hsieh, VP Partnerships & Growth at Truecaller.

In addition to the improved spam detection, Truecaller is adding a new “My Block List” feature which, for the first time on iPhone, will let users control exactly who can and cannot contact them.

Pairing these new CallKit features with Caller ID and after-call notifications, which truecaller has improved from their earlier releases, makes this the most optimized Truecaller yet for iPhone.

To enable the new integration, users will have to upgrade their iPhones to iOS 10 and have the latest version of Truecaller on their phone. To use the feature users have to go to Settings->Phone->Call Blocking and Identification to turn on the feature.
