Mumbai: Windows phone has been going through a rough patch as numerous prominent apps are slowly abandoning its platform. Now CNN has also decided to part ways as it will withdraw its app from the platform from July 18.
The popular news app has now recommended Windows Phone users to refer to their website if they wish to follow their news. Earlier prominent apps which decided ditch the platform were PayPal and Amazon.
In a farewell message, CNN said: “This application will be retired on Monday, July 18. Thank you for being a loyal CNN user. Please visit our mobile web site to continue to get the latest domestic and international news: www.cnn.com.”
A little while ago, word from the rumour mill suggested that numerous platforms were speculating building universal Windows 10 apps but there has been no development yet.
Earlier, CNN also had the same plan; however, the popular news portal’s latest move indicates at a different approach.
Word has it that Microsoft is also working on improving its news app feature after witnessing rivals step up efforts in this domain.
That said, CNN step to move away from the Windows phone platform is not at all encouraging for the future of the platform. All windows mobile users can do is hope for the quick inception of universal apps.
