Google launches Trusted Contacts for you and your loved ones

With safety being a big question, this app is poised to bring in safety to the users and their loved ones with just one simple tap

Google has released an all-new app which is aimed at giving the user peace of mind when potentially dangerous situations arise either for the user or their loved ones. It’s known as Trusted Contacts which ensures that the user always knows when their friends and family are safe and sound, and vice versa.

The new app from Google is not a usual security app for Android. The search giant targets a specific type of Android users, so users can understand that this is not a very complex app and is not built to protect users’ phone/tablet from unwanted intrusions.

Trusted Contacts is a personal safety application which allows users to share their location with their “trusted contacts” and works offline as well.

Firstly, as soon as you install the application (It is available in Google Play now), you will be able to assign the “trusted” status to your closest friends and family. These persons will be able to see your activity status.

Whenever you find yourself in a location where you feel unsafe, you can immediately share your location with your trusted contacts. Moreover, if your trusted contacts are worried about you, they can choose to request to see your location. However, you can deny sharing the information if everything is fine.

This means with this app, your friend or “trusted contact” can virtually walk you home. As soon as the user reaches safety, they can simply tap the banner at the top of the screen for the lock screen to stop sharing your location.

Trusted is freely available on Google Play and is compatible with all devices 4.1 and above.
