Affordable iPhone: Apple could launch low-cost iPhone next year

The move is likely to boost sales numbers following the footsteps of the successful iPhone XR.

Apple is apparently working on a new cheaper device to launch with its next series of iPhones next year. The move is likely to boost sales numbers following the footsteps of the successful iPhone XR. According to reports by Japanese financial publication Nikkei Asian Review, the device will likely be a successor to the popular iPhone SE that was launched in 2016 at USD 399.

While we don’t know what the new iPhone will be called, it is speculated that the company will use the 4.7-inch screen last used on the iPhone 8. The report also mentions that the new cheaper phone would feature most of the same components from this year’s flagship iPhone 11 series, which likely points to the implementation of the A13 chip. The phone will most likely use an LCD screen instead of the newer OLED panels.

The decision might help the company regain some big sales numbers that the company has been losing as of late. In countries like India and China where value for money devices rule the market, the new phone could seriously help the brand set a foot again.

Interestingly enough, the news surfaces merely days before the iPhone 11 series launch on September 10. The new iPhone models that will be launched are called the iPhone 11R, iPhone 11, and the iPhone 11 Pro.
