Microsoft's new messaging app to take on Slack

Microsoft's new messaging app to challenge Slack.

Tech giant, Microsoft is reportedly working on a messaging app for team collaboration, much like how Slack works.

It will be launched as ‘Skype teams’ wherein, users will be able to chat in different groups within a team. Skype Teams will also feature ‘Threaded Conversations,’ that users can use to reply to a message on a channel by simply clicking on the reply button. The importance of this particular feature is that anyone else can join the thread whenever they want. The teams will also be able to make video calls in a channel or privately. This makes scheduling online meetings significantly simpler especially for large teams.

‘The Fun Picker’ feature in Skype Teams will further allow users to add emojis, gifs and memes among other things. Additionally, the sidebar on this platform provides access to other services, too.

There is no word on when exactly this platform could be launched as Microsoft is still testing it internally.
