Pollution is one of biggest concerns that mankind needs to tackle. As we have seen in the past few weeks, the negative effects of climate change have assumed worrisome proportions — whether it is the smog in Delhi or floods in Chennai. Despite governments planning to make electric vehicles the norm to reduce the harm caused by fuel-guzzling and pollutant-emitting chunks of metal, no solution yields result on an immediate basis.

However, a Bangalore based startup, has created a Graphene-Lime Paint that absorbs Carbon Dioxide, in the same manner a tree does. Its maker claims that their product can clean-up the air and help us breathe better. To give you an estimate, 4 pots of five litres Graphene-Lime paint can absorb CO2 equivalent to a tree in a year. Therefore, this means that painting our walls with Graphene paints could considerably improve the quality of the air that we breathe.

The paint is still not market-ready and Graphene Nano Innovations, the company responsible for the paint, is eyeing to launch the CO2 absorbing paint by April 2018. It is not yet known how consumers will react to it but a CO2 absorbing paint will certainly play its part in reducing the effects of air pollution. However, one should still prefer planting trees in larger numbers to keep our air breathable.
