Philip in a research partnership with the municipality of Dubai has developed a range of LED bulbs that claim to reduce the consumption of electricity by up to 90 per cent.

The Dubai Lamp Initiative is a unique research partnership between Philips Lighting and Dubai Municipality, resulting in the development of the world’s first commercially available 200 lumen per watt LED lamp, available in widely used shapes and colors.

The lamps which comprise of four different LED bulbs, are scheduled to be made available in Dubai before this year ends.  These bulbs will be available in ‘cool daylight’ and ‘warm white’ colours and there is also a candle bulb and a classic bulb that may be included. The pricing has not been set yet.

The Dubai Lamp initiative was first announced earlier this week at the Water, Energy and Environment Exhibition.
