Amazon Rapids, the chat-style fiction app is now free for kids
Kids between the ages of 5 and 12 can now read unlimited stories from Amazon Rapids. The chat-style fiction app, which was available at $2.99 per month is now free. Kids can now select any story they want to read from the catalogue, which has a huge number of options to select from. Some of these stories will also be available to listen to through Alexa’s Storytime mode. When it was launched in 2016, the then subscription-based service was meant to get children interested in reading by presenting short stories in the style of text message conversations between characters. The idea was these types of stories may be easier for a young reader to handle. Amazon also has other child-friendly applications like FreeTime service, which gives kids plenty of age-friendly content like books, websites and videos bundled into a monthly or yearly subscription service. While the app was once available only in Amazon’s line of products, like Fire tablets and Kindles, it has now been expanded into a standalone iOS and Android app.
