Find your local bus
We are, by now, comfortable using the services of taxi aggregators like Uber and Ola. Now, here’s an app that caters to those of us who depend on the more affordable public transportation system.
It’s called Trafi and it comes from a company based in Lithuania, which works with local transport operators in hundreds of cities worldwide. They localise the software and using their own algorithm, help people find the next bus, tram or train in their city. Harnessing the GPS information of your phone the app offers a dynamic map of the city and its transport, showing you how to couple multiple rides to get from here to there, how long it will take, when you can expect the next ride and what stops you can expect en route.
Trafi which is globally, one of the most highly rated transportation apps, has been launched for Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune and is promised for other Indian cities in the coming weeks. We tried it in Bangalore and it integrates very well with the city’s BMTC service, though it has not yet gone live with the Metro rail network.
The app is available for iOS and Android, or from http://trafi.com
