Watch: An awesome video from a GoPro strapped to a rocket
This awesome video was shot on a few GoPro cameras which were strapped to a rocket and blasted into space. The rocket excelled at speeds of Mach 5.5 and reached 396,405 feet above the earth’s surface. The rocket went into the upper stratosphere and then descended back to land.
The event of the launch happened at the Spaceport America in New Mexico on November 6, 2015. The cameras were strapped to a 20-foot tall SpaceLoft-10 rocket from a Colorado-based launch provider UP Aerospace.
Watch carefully at around 60 seconds into the flight (around 1:17 seconds in the video) where the nose fairing is released and the rocket ejects a 11 pound re-entry capsule (Maraia) which was designed and built by NASA’s Johnson Space Flight Center. The capsules were recovered by the US Army White Sands Missile Range. The video was officially released by GoPro on May 4, 2015.
