Another flagship Windows Phone that never happened
Like a gust of wind, the internet is suddenly full of leaked Windows Phones that never saw the light of the day. We discussed the Lumia 960 prototypes that never saw the light of the day. And now, we have leaked photos of another cancelled Lumia device from the Chinese website Weibo.
The leaked device follows the typical Lumia design theme from 2015 and was supposed to be shown at Build 2015. The device had that year’s flagship SoC – the Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone would have been available with either a 1080p or 1440p display, both featuring the same CPU, RAM and 32 GB of storage. The device was also having a 20MP camera sensor with triple-LED flash. Surprisingly, it also shows a removable back.
Since it was slated for a 2015 unveiling, it could have been the test bed for the Lumia 950, which launched later that year. This could also have been an alternative device with a slightly inferior build, that could have had a comparatively cheaper price tag to the premium built Lumia 950. This does show that at some point the Windows Phone device lineup was super close to being expanded with a handful of powerful devices.
