Leaked images reveal OLED touchbar on upcoming MacBook Pro
Mumbai: As the launch date of the upgraded MacBook Pro 2016 comes closer, new leaked images have emerged online, indicating that the device will equip an OLED touchbar.
A new report by Cult of Mac showed newly leaked images of an aluminium casing framework, hinting that the next-gen MacBook Pro won’t have the functions key row at the top and will be replaced by an additional OLED touchbar above the keyboard.
The same report also indicated benefits of adding an OLED touchbar on the device; the key reason being the ability to tailor function keys to replace shortcuts with the ones you need.
Also, the images revealed that the touchbar might have a lip that slips into a smaller hole on the left side of the cut-out, for keeping it in place. Similarly, a hole on the right hand side appears to contain three pins to connect the touchpad to the logic board.
If this OLED touchbar becomes a reality, it can be used for multiple functions such as showing notifications, adding custom shortcuts, apart from displaying the bland function keys.
Moving on, the photos also suggested that almost all the connectors on the device will be replaced by USB-C ports. Two USB-C ports seem to appear on both the sides of the upcoming MacBook Pro, and the only other hole seems to be the headphone jack.
Earlier, there were several reports of the new MacBook Pro to be thinner and with new butterfly keys. Well-famed KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also indicated that the new line of upgraded MacBooks will come with a complete design overhaul.
The new device is expected to make its first appearance in June 13 at the WWDC conference; however, nothing can be guaranteed before the official launch.
