Android's last possible Nougat update officially rolls out

Google has started rolling out the newest version of Android Nougat 7.1.2 to all users.

Google had been working on an update to its Nougat OS for over a month now. The company is finally done with the testing and has made an official roll-out of its last possible Nougat update to all users. The latest version – 7.1.2 – is set to reach Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus Player and Pixel C users first. The update will gradually be available for all Android-powered smartphones.

What’s new in the update?

The Android 7.1.2 update brings Google’s April security patch along with minor improvements for speed optimisation, several bug fixes and other enhancements. It’s merely a maintenance update so it’s best that the users don’t get their hopes to high. There are no major OS design changes either.

There will be a new fingerprint gesture feature that Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will be receiving. The Pixel C users will now be able to experience a new multi-window view.

Google is currently preparing its Android O version launch. While they have already published their first developer preview to testers, they are expected to introduce three more developer previews before officially rolling out the same.
