Google to delete 'some' search results within EU
Mumbai: Search engine giant Google has confirmed that it would remove some search results from all of its sites starting next week within the European Union.
The California-based tech giant confirmed that in response to discussions with regulators, the company would begin de-listing from all sites, beginning next week, if Google detects that a search user is in the EU, the Verge reported.
"Starting next week, in addition to our existing practice, we will also use geo-location signals (like IP addresses) to restrict access to the de-listed URL on all Google Search domains, including google.com, when accessed from the country of the person requesting the removal," Google said in a statement.
"We will apply the change retrospectively, to all de-listings that we have already done under the European Court ruling," Google added.
