Dell launches Latitude 5285; Microsoft Surface killer
Microsoft had launched the 2-in-1 device category in 2012 and started a chain of events with it critically acclaimed Surface series. The series included the standard Surface, the Surface Pro, Surface Book, Surface Studio, and the Surface Hub. At first, companies were not interested in it. But now everyone seems to be at least considering bringing such a product to the market.
It is called the Latitude 5285, and looks and works just like a Microsoft Surface, while it also features hardware which is an alternative to Microsoft’s original device.
The Dell device 2-in-1 model comes with a 12.3-inch display and is powered by the Intel 7th generation Core processors. The device also boasts an Intel HD Graphics 620 card with 16GB DDR3 memory. The storage can be chosen by the users with capping at 1TB SSD.
Display is on the lower side as the Dell device supports only 1080p, while the Surface Pro 4 supports a maximum resolution of 2736x1825 pixels. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB 3.0 LTE, and a fingerprint sensor, while also boasting two different battery options of 6300mAh or 8400mAh.
The Latitude will go on sale next month at a retail price starting $899, which is the same price as the Surface Pro 4 with Intel Core i5 processors. The magnetic keyboard is extra—more details will be unveiled at a later date.
