Turing phone finally launched

The new phone is a significant upgrade from its predecessors

The “Turing Phone” is finally out. No, this is not preordered unit which turned out to be an “evaluation unit” a year later, only worse and slow. But now the latest version is much better and faster. The phone now runs on Sailfish OS 2.0 — a mobile operating system which combines the Linux kernel for a particular hardware platform use, the open-source Mer core middleware, a proprietary UI (Æmæth), and other third-party components.

The phone is powered by a quad-core Krait MSM8974AC running at 2.5GHz with 16GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM. Built into a Liquidmorphium Frame with 5.5-inches of display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, the phone is quite heavy. The device is IPx8 certified which means it is water-proof.

Camera features a 13MP primary shooter with HDR and dual-flash, while the secondary camera is an 8MP with HDR. Battery is a non-removable 3000mAh which is decent for standard usage.

The phone is a single-SIM and connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, 3G and 4G. Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.
