Pixel is as secure as the iPhone, says Google exec
Security has been a major question for electronic devices these days, even though organizations have been investing large amounts of money in security solutions so as to make their products impenetrable to hacking. Also, security is one of the major reasons of debate for Android and iOS.
Several security experts have stated the Android as a mess when it comes to security, but Google has taken massive steps towards improving privacy and security on devices that run its mobile platform.
The search engine giant now provides handset makers with monthly security updates that repair and patch discovered bugs and issues that could be exploited if not addressed soon enough.
iOS operating system, on the other hand is more secure, but less customizable and open for developers. The bottom line is one cannot have the best of both worlds, though Google has claimed that it will roll out better features than Apple’s iOS.
Adrian Ludwig, director of security at Android, in an interview stated about the security of Google Pixel is “for sure” same to an iPhone. He also went to say that Android will soon be better, though: “In the long term, the open ecosystem of Android is going to put it in a much better place.”
According to Ludwig, Android’s built-in security solution called “Safety Net” is now scanning 400 million devices per day. Moreover, the product can check no less than 6 billion apps per day, which is a huge achievement.
Because of the “Safety Net,” the number of Android devices that have malware is very less nowadays, Ludwig claims. According to him, less than 1% of Android devices are affected.
Ludwig also stated that Android is now secure enough that it is now almost impossible for someone to target a large number of people with malware at the same time.
