Over 200,000 glittery iPhone cases recalled after burns reports

Over 20 people have reported of being permanently scarred from a chemical burn or irritation due to leak out from glittery iPhone cases.

Over 20 people have reported of being permanently scarred from a chemical burn or skin irritation due to leak out from glittery iPhone cases, reported the Independent. Some of the cases were noted to be designer cases from Victoria's Secret, Henri Bendel or Tory Burch brand.

"One consumer reported permanent scarring from a chemical burn and another consumer reported chemical burns and swelling to her leg, face, neck, chest, upper body and hands," wrote the US Consumer Product Safety Commission in a press note.

According to the report, more than 200,000 such cases sold across the US, Canada and Mexico have been recalled after reports of blisters or burns, and skin irritation when the liquids, which floats inside such cases, comes into contact with skin due to breakage or cracking of the case.

MixBin Electronics, which manufactured such liquid-filled glitter iPhone cases, are offering reimbursement to ones who purchased it. We are “recalling certain styles of decorative liquid glitter iPhone cases. The cases contain liquid and glitter that are floating in the plastic case,” reads a statement on MixBin's recall page.

The affected cases were sold on Amazon.com; GetMixBin.com; Henri Bendel stores and online at henribendel.com; Nordstrom Rack stores; Tory Burch stores; and at Victoria’s Secret stores in the US, Canada, and Mexico, and online at victoriassecret.com.

According to BBC’s report, MixBin liquid glitter cases have already been removed from Amazon's UK site, but some of them are still appeared to be available on eBay’s UK website.
