HTC U to feature 6GB of RAM, Snapdragon 835, no headphone jack
Recently, HTC U was leaked in an alleged render, showing some interesting design details about the upcoming flagship. Now, the phone’s specs have surfaced in a new report, revealing that HTC has packed in top-of-the-line components in the new device.
According to a report by AndroidHeadlines, HTC’s upcoming U flagship has also been codenamed Ocean, will feature Edge Sensors, also known as Sense Touch Technology. This means the feature will allow users to squeeze the phone’s sides lightly or strongly in order to trigger actions.
The smartphone is touted to come with multiple sensitivity settings to prevent accidental trigger. Edge sensors will also help users launch the Google Assistant, the camera, HTC’s Sense Companion or turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot. It certainly makes it easy to access various apps on the phone, even if the display is off.
Speaking of camera specs, the HTC U will have advanced HDR settings on the rear camera, including HDR+. Smart Video Zoom, 3D Audio and Hi-Res recording tools. In addition, it’s also slated to feature a “real-time HDR scene detection” feature which would apply HDR+ processing features in top of images before the picture is taken.
HTC U will have 4 microphones for recording, as well as two recording modes, 3D Audio and a Hi-Res Recording option. 3D Audio will offer surround sound effect to recordings. Aside from this, the new phone will also come with Multimedia BoomSound, used on many premium smartphones by HTC.
HTC Ocean is slated to feature a 5.5-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is also touted to run the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 540 graphics processing unit.
RAM capacity is said to be 4GB or 6GB, while internal storage might be 64GB or 128GB. Battery is a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button. Android 7.1 will be pre-installed, while the flagship will lack a 3.5mm headphone jack.
