Google's Gmail now has one billion monthly active users
New Delhi: Internet giant Google's email service, Gmail has one billion monthly active users, the company's CEO Sundar Pichai said while announcing the Q4 2015 earnings.
Gmail—founded in 2004—became the seventh billion-user service for Google, which also includes six other services—Search, Chrome, Android, Google Play, Maps, and YouTube, the Verge reported.

Before Gmail’s inception, the market was dominated by other email services from Microsoft and Yahoo with products such as Outlook and Lotus. Gmail was announced publicly on April 1, 2004.
Gmail is a free, advertising-supported email service provided by Google. Users may access Gmail as secure webmail, as well as via POP3 or IMAP4 protocols.
