Hyderabad: Women techies find SHE app ill-designed

Shuttle service users say Reach Safe' erratic, glitch-ridden.

Hyderabad: While the app was initially aimed at techies, SCSC did not want to discriminate women and now caters to a wide range of travellers. While appreciating the She Shuttle initiative by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), women techies alleged that the mobile application to track the shuttle is erratic.

The She Shuttle is equipped with the ‘Reach Safe’ app that will help commuters keep track of the shuttle with their mobile phones. Network issue is the primary reason why IT employees cannot rely on the She Shuttle. M. Tejaswini, a frequent user said, “Due to the technical glitches with the app, I cannot fully depend on the She Shuttle.”

L. Anitha, a software engineer, who has been using the She Shuttle for an year, said, “After 9 pm the trips are abruptly cancelled and there is no notification. This is causing inconvenience.” Bharani Kumar Arolla, SCSC secretary, who is associated with the She Shuttle, requested the travellers to give feedback through the app so that their team can work on the updates. He said that they would convene a review meeting to address the issues. While the service was initially aimed at techies, SCSC did not want to discriminate women and now caters to a wide range of travellers.

Sowbaghya, who has been working as supervisor from past two years, said, “House-keeping staff find it difficult to understand the app. However, there is increased awareness now.” For security, eight women guards are on hand to accompany women techies on the shuttle.
