Google is trying o revolutionise the way we authenticate payments or account logins with new hardware options. The Search giant will start offering a service by the name of Advanced Protection Program that will place some new features into email accounts, which is intended to block third-party apps from accessing data easily.
The feature, which is reported by Bloomberg, has been designed keeping in mind to effectively replace the need to use two-factor authentication by using physical security keys. The report says that Google plans to market the product to corporate executives, politicians and others with heightened security concerns.
Google has been trying to revamp and secure two-factor authentication processes for a long time. Two-factor authentication involves the use of a second code or password for verification — the likes of which you see in making online transactions from your bank account. With the new service, users will be required to use a physical USB key in addition to a second physical key for enhanced protection.
