IPhone 8 to have a bigger screen, curved AMOLED displays from Samsung

The AMOLED display size is expected to be larger than the Plus versions which is 5.5-inch TFT-LCD Retina display

Apple is now reportedly working towards the making of a larger display version of the iPhone 8, and now there are reports which suggest that Apple has plans of making three different displays for this phone. According to a report in Digitimes, Samsung will be the exclusive supplier for AMOLED panels in the upcoming series.

The report has stated Apple will have three size options. The sizes include the regular 4.7-inch and the 5.5-inch Plus versions which will have the TFT-LCD panels with Retina which Apple has used always. Adding to this, there will be a 5.8-inch iPhone with AMOLED display, and according to the supply chain sources, global shipments of this bigger iPhone are estimated at 60-70 million units.

Samsung being the sole AMOLED supplier for Apple, there are rumours Apple will finally introduce a version of the iPhone with dual-curved edge display which is similar to the Samsung’s Galaxy series of dual-curved display smartphones like the S6 and S7 Edge, and the Note 7. Another report in The Korean Herald also stated Apple will use Samsung-made curved OLED panels for the iPhone 8. Noted Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has said in the past the new iPhone 8 will have an all-glass body as well, and that Apple is likely to go for an OLED display.
