Reliance Happy New Year offer: Free Jio service extends till March 31, 2017
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani today announced extension of free voice, data and video for new, as well as existing Jio customers, under its Happy New Year offer till March 31, 2017.
“Starting 4 December 2016, every new Jio user will get Jio's Data, Voice, Video and the full bouquet of Jio applications absolutely free, till 31 March 2017,” Mukesh Ambani said.
In September, Mukesh Ambani – owned Reliance Jio rolled out ‘Welcome offer’ to all JIO customers, allowing them to avail free unlimited voice and data till December 31. Although, the company has witnessed a fast growth in the past three months, it is aiming to expand the service across the country.
“In only three months, Jio has grown faster than Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype,” Mukesh Ambani told media.
“While customers have shown unprecedented love for Jio, we have not received the required support from existing operators.”
He claimed that in the past three months nearly 900 crore voice calls from Jio to the other major networks were blocked. “Benefits of Jio’s superior technology have been denied to customers due to anti-competitive behaviour of incumbent operators,” he added.
Jio will now support portability which will allow customers to retain their existing mobile numbers when they migrate to Jio. In addition, the company has introduced home delivery service for the customers, which can be activated within 5-minutes via e-KYC. Jio is also planning to double the e-KYC outlets in the country by March next year.
At the press conference, Ambani revealed that in the past three months Jio signed up 6 lakh customers every single day and has crossed 50 million customers.
“Only 8 per cent towers experienced congestion. 92 per cent towers are experiencing high data speed. While 80 per cent customers are happy, only 20 per cent users have had bad experience,” Ambani told media.
In the end, the billionaire industrialist congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his "bold" and "historic" move to demonetise old currency notes.
Following which, Ambani announced to launch Jio Money Merchant Solution service on December 5, which will enable digital transactions of all types for small shopkeepers and customers.
