OnePlus launches OxygenOS Open Beta 8 for OnePlus 3

As of now, it will only be available to OnePlus 3 users and comes in with its fair share of issues

OnePlus has officially launched the OxygenOS Open Beta 8 which will be available to OnePlus 3 users. The new platform shifts from Marshmallow to Nougat and introduces a significant number of user interface changes. A case in point — the beta build refreshes the design of the notifications and setting menus. It also adds multi-window view, notification direct reply, status bar icon options, and quick launch for third party applications.

OnePlus states there are some issues in the Nougat Beta, which breaks Android Pay and provides stability and performance problems. OnePlus has warned that the Beta version cannot be loaded manually. Moreover, beta testers will not be easily be able to return back to the earlier versions unless the device has been formatted.

OnePlus has stated that it is working towards creation of a single software build for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T based on the Nougat which it expects to complete by the end of the year. Until then the 3 and 3T will be updated separately. Recently, the devices have gone through updates. Both of these system builds are incremental builds that focus mainly on resolving bugs and performance issues. They are rolling out slowly as over-the-air installations.
