Bengaluru: He has already found a way to connect with people with his “Kaam ki Baat,” on the radio, but Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday released a mobile App “The Citizen Connect” to have even more direct contact with them.
The Citizen Connect app will provide users information from the Chief Minister's office, his blogs, speeches and help them get appointments with him.
People will also be able to interact with the CM’s office about their problems, give their suggestions and record their responses to various issues.
Mr Siddaramaiah released a Farmers' Crop Survey app as well to assist the government assess farmers’ crop patterns and losses, if any, to compensate them adequately.
Additionally, the app will help farmers get information on minimum support prices, crop insurance patterns and crop loss assessment.
With the government working to link Aadhaar with land records, the app will help in direct payment of compensation to over 25 lakh farmers.
Speaking to reporters later, Mr Siddarmaiah revealed that the government had decided to accept the recommendations of a committee set up by the Kannada Development Authority (KDA) for more use of Kannada on its websites. The panel had discovered that only 25 per cent of government websites gave people the option of reading them in Kannada and the rest provided content only in English.
