Twitter may add feature that will allow users flag 'fake news': report
Twitter is considering adding a feature that would let users flag false or misleading information posted on its platform, reported The Washington Post. According to people familiar with the project, the feature could look like a tiny bar that will appear in a drop-down menu alongside tweets.
The rampant abuse on social media platforms is not only limited to Twitter, but to Facebook as well. The two have been accused of providing a platform for spreading “fake news” that was biased, false or inaccurate.
However, it is yet not clear whether the feature will make its way to the platform anytime soon since it still in a prototype phase and Twitter has denied launching any such products.
In a statement to The Washington Post, a Twitter spokersperson said that the company has “no current plans to launch any types of product along these lines.”
