Apple may start making USB-C accessory for iPhone

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, it has been suggested that Apple may be bringing the USB-C to the iPhone.

Apple is reportedly planning to bring the support for USB-C to the iPhone. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, it has been suggested that Apple may be bringing the USB-C to the iPhone.

Before you start to celebrate, another report from The Verge does add to the existing WSJ’s report that could be interpreted as to suggest that Apple is not dumping Lightning in favour of USB-C, but that is replacing the USB-A end of the connector with USB-C.

The latter assumption makes more sense because of the reason that Apple has let go of the USB-A ports on its current MacBook lineup and replaced them with USB-C, without taking the trouble to provide adapters.

Another point for this is that Apple has only recently released its Lightning EarPods and has licensed the ports to accessory makers for making Lightning-compatible headphones and accessories.

USB-C is a better standard that the USB 3.0 because of the reason that it supports a much higher bandwidth and more importantly are more powerful. Moving to USB-C will lend Apple users at least some peace of mind as they do not have to buy extra adapters to connect iPhones to MacBooks.
