Microsoft Windows 10 to get a major overhaul

This modernised version of windows is aimed at desktops, laptops and 2-in-1s.

Microsoft will soon ditch all its legacy features for its modernised Windows 10. This new version of windows is expected to build on Windows Core OS – code-named Polaris. This modernised version of windows is aimed at desktops, laptops and 2-in-1s.

The company is trying to adapt its new OS similar to Apple's ecosystem by implementing UWP (Universal Windows Platform). This UWP helps all Windows apps to work seamlessly across all its devices. Basically, Microsoft is trying to unify all its popular products to have the same user experience regardless of any product. Previously Microsoft did introduce Windows 10 for its phones and laptops/PCs, but due to the different kernel codes, the user experience wasn’t popular and failed at a commercial level.

However, future versions of this new Windows will feature CShell – a new legacy operating system across all devices. Since it is a major overhaul for Windows, there are some issues rising which belong to Win32 programs, as this new OS can’t support native Win32 programs. Reports suggest that, since the company can’t remove Win32 programs completely from the Core OS, the company is making a Centennial Win32 app to handle those native programs seamlessly.

The current version of Windows 10 will be staying for a while, but the users who want to try out this Polaris have to start fresh. This new OS is expected to be shipped to devices from 2019.
