Bengaluru: Spark in smart phone kills youth

Bengaluru: In a freak incident, a 20-year-old youth died after he fell from a scooter when a spark went off from his smart phone here on Tuesday. Around 6.30 pm, the deceased, Anil Kumar, and his friend were on a scooter near Chowdeshwari Temple on Narayanapura Main Road in Ramamurthynagar police limits. Anil, who was riding, was talking on the phone when his phone sparked.  Anil was riding and talking on his phone, which sparked. Startled, he lost control of the scooter and fell down.

Anil, a courier boy, lived here with his mother in Pillareddypalya. His friend, Karthik, who was riding pillion escaped with minor wounds, while Anil sustained head injuries. Both were rushed to hospital, where Anil died during treatment.

 

"The cause of death is unconfirmed. Karthik says the phone exploded, but there is no burn injury on Anil's body. We suspect he might have died of head injuries. A post-mortem will be conducted on Wednesday to confirm cause of death," police said.
