Huawei Set to Test Powerful AI Chip to Rival Nvidia’s: Report
Huawei has approached some Chinese tech companies about testing the feasibility of the new chip, called the Ascend 910D

China’s Huawei is getting ready to test a new and powerful artificial intelligence processor that the company hopes can replace some products made by US-based Nvidia, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The progress by the Shenzhen-based networking and electronics leader shows the resilience of China’s semiconductor industry in the face of efforts by the Trump administration to stymie it, including by blocking access to some Western chip-making equipment, the newspaper said on Sunday.
Huawei has approached some Chinese tech companies about testing the feasibility of the new chip, called the Ascend 910D, the Journal said, citing unidentified people with knowledge of the matter.
The development is still at an early stage, and a series of tests will be needed to assess the chip’s performance and get it ready for customers, the newspaper said.
