ZOOOK Rocker Torpedo review: Take your music anywhere
France-based ZOOOK, a new comer into the Indian market, had introduced a few audio accessories and the Rocker Torpedo is the second Bluetooth speaker on offer after the Rocker Armor XL. The Torpedo is similarly designed with a rubberised body and a waterproof chassis.
The speaker is larger than the Armor XL, and has a funky classic look to it. With a firm plastic handle and rubber feet, the Torpedo weighs around 1.8Kg with a height of around 166mm and a depth of 100mm. The speakers being waterproof and enclosed in a rugged chassis can be used in almost any environment.
It sports two drivers for highs and mids while a passive bass diaphragm is placed on the rear panel. The speakers can drive a max power output of 50 watts (25W x 2) and with a 5200mAh battery, you can enjoy music with up to 8 hours of continuous playback.
The Torpedo is Bluetooth-enabled with buttons for just power, volume and play/pause and also supports AUX input, hidden behind a water-tight enclosure on the rear panel. The speakers don’t feature AVRCP to control the music from the speaker itself, which was a minor put off. As for the performance, we were impressed.
The Torpedo can perform at high volumes with almost zero distortion. The trebles are great and the bass has a good punch. Sound is not boomy as we assumed — thanks to the rugged enclosure, rubberised body and the additional weight, the speakers give you enjoyable bass in an equally small footprint.
If you are looking for a wireless portable speaker system with the audio quality as good as the likes of Harmon Kardon or even the Bose, but don’t have enough money to shell out, the ZOOOK Rocker Torpedo is the best bet. Priced at Rs 4,999, the ZOOOK will ensure your party lasts long and everyone is rocking.
