iBall Decibel: Speak to your headset

iBall launches India's first Alexa-ready headphone.

Bluetooth headphones have become lighter, softer, more comfortable on the ears with every passing month this year. But there is one hassle they have not been able to address: finding the tiny button controls to stop-start-pause the music, switch the source or interrupt to take a phone call.

The iBall Decibel headset seems like an answer to the wishlist of anyone who have had to grope for the right controls on a Bluetooth wearable device: It has integrated functionality for Amazon's smart voice assistant, Alexa. Now, you can voice your choice and let her find the track you want. To get started you need to download an app called "Hubble Connect for Verve Life" which works for both Android and iOS devices. Be warned, syncing Alexa with your phone and headset is not too easy and you need to follow the instructions that are available at iball.co.in/DecibelAlexa.

The headset has the usual manual controls if you prefer those — and an inline microphone for making your phone calls. You can also tune to FM radio.

The beauty of having Alexa work for you, is that her help is not restricted to the primary role of a headset: She can also answer just about any question you ask within reason.

For this alone, the Decibel's asking price of Rs 1,799 seems reasonable.
