Pi's wireless charger justifies its name differently

The conical-shaped charger can juice up supported smartphones kept within a foot of itself.

With the 2017 lineup of Apple iPhones, Apple has made wireless charging mainstream. Therefore, many smartphones in various segments will start gaining support for this new way of charging, which also means that the world will look for fast wireless charging. Pi, a new name in Silicon Valley, has come up with a wireless charger that takes wireless charging to the next level.

Pi’s conical wireless charger can charge any supported device place within a foot of the device. This means that there are no charging pads or mats — you could actually charge your phone while it’s in your pocket. Pi says that one of these examples will start from $200 once they start selling it in 2018.

The charger uses bendable magnetic waves to find a wireless charging enabled smartphone. The company had to work extensively to make bendable magnetic waves so that they could beam the waves towards the phone instead of sending it all over the place.

The company says that the new wireless charger will work with all new iPhones as well as existing Android smartphones supporting wireless charging.
