Apple to kill off iPad Mini?

Several sources close to the matter reveal that the company will not update the devices any longer.

Apple’s iPad Mini — which was launched back in 2012 — didn’t gain instant recognition, however; it was given the ‘best tablet ever’ tag by experts. Unfortunately, it appears like Apple plans on discontinuing the 7.9-inch iPad “sometime in the future.”

BGR quoted sources close to the matter as suggesting that Apple will no longer be pushing any new updates for its iPad Mini in an effort to phase out the devices.

To recall, iPad Mini — at the time of its launch — was described as being as thin as a pencil and as light as a pad of paper, yet packing a fast A5 chip, FaceTime HD and 5MP isight cameras with battery that delivers up to 10 hours of life by Phil Schiller. Lately, the device appears to have lost its charm and users are believed to be opting for larger handsets instead of the considerably smaller iPad Mini.

It still remains unclear whether Apple would continue selling the device or not. The tech giant is believed to be making room for its next line of iPads — a 10.5-inch iPad Pro that is expected to launch at WWDC next month.

KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the upcoming device to sport an “all-new design,” with upgraded specs. Moreover, the revamped iPad Pro is expected to mirror the design of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8.
