Android Wear 2.0 reports issues with Google Assistant, recurring reminders

Users have started reporting issues with the Google Assistant personal intelligent assistant, which Google implemented in Android Wear 2.0.

Anyone who owns an Android-powered smartwatch running on the latest Android Wear 2.0 update might want to think again before updating it to the latest available patches which Google recently released.

Users have started reporting issues with the Google Assistant personal intelligent assistant, which Google implemented in Android Wear 2.0 major update released earlier this year. Users have stated that Google Assistant no longer works correctly after they have updated their smartwatch devices to the latest patch which Google had released on Thursday, stating they can only be used for performing simple Internet searches via Google search.

"I have a Fossil Q Founder 2.0 watch. In the beginning Google Assistant worked flawlessly," reports user jdsullivan21 on Google's Android Wear Help Forum. "On Thursday of this week I noticed that it would no longer control my home automation setup (smart things). On Friday I noticed that it couldn't set a simple 2-minute timer any longer."

It is usually recommended that readers always update their devices to the latest security updates, but in this case, we would recommend not to update your smartwatch running on Android Wear 2.0, as Google is still struggling to fix bugs in the OS, such as the ones which automatically marks recurring reminders as completed and was reported as early as June 2017.

As of now, Google is aware of these issues, and they are working on fixing them, along with many others. There is no confirmation on as to when they will be fixed so it is better that users remain on the current software and not update until Google releases a fix.
