How to add touchscreen to your MacBook Air

The gap of touchscreen feature on MacBook can be filled by a Neonode's product called AirBar

Tablets and smartphones have made touchscreen the norm for many to control their devices. However, Apple’s MacBook with a touchscreen continues to remain on the wishlist of many customers.

The gap of touchscreen feature on MacBook can be filled by a Neonode’s product called AirBar— a device that says to add the ‘touch without a touchscreen.’

AirBar is a long magnetic strip that can be connected to the Apple’s MacBook to bring touch gestures when needed. The AirBar sits below the laptop screen, emitting an invisible light field across the display, which helps sense touch gestures produced on the screen. In order to work, the AirBar is required to be connected to the laptop’s USB port.

At present, only the 13-inch variant of MacBook Air is compatible with the device. AirBar can also be used with MacBook Pro, however, it may block the macOS dock at the bottom.

The AirBar is available in the size variants: 15.6-, 14- and 13.3-inch. According to the AirBar’s website the Matte Black variant of the AirBar is available at a price of $69.

AirBar for the 13-inch MacBook Air is said to be launched in early March for $99.
