After Pebble, Fitbit buys Vector Watch
Just a month after acquiring Pebble, Fitbit has added Vector Watch to its armoury. UK-based Vector touts its products as a ‘combination of iconic design and essential technology.’
Vector products come with 30-day battery life and are compatible with iOS, Android and Windows. Vector also offers its own app store. Vector said its team and software platform will now move to Fitbit.
Vector also addressed the concerns of the watch owners, saying ‘smart watches will maintain functionalities and features.’ However, it also said ‘new product features (hardware and software) will not be added.’
Fitbit announced a deal to acquire Pebble in December last year, including staff and intellectual property related to hardware and software development. The Vector Watch acquisition comes as Fitbit’s move to foray in to health-oriented segment.
