Ladies Special

Finally, a health wearable, made for women only -- and we're not just talking about look and feel.

There are plenty of smart health bands in the market but the vast majority are unisex products and some of them can be quite heavy on the wrist. Hardly anyone has thought to design a fitness wearable device with women in mind. Khyati Mahajan did just that: she set up a company in the US -- Mevofit -- to create a range of health bands, including some with special features, which women will appreciate.

We got to try out the Mevofit Slim + HR fitness tracker for women. Slim is right: it is featherweight at 16 grams and comes with a sleek 0.87-inch touchscreen. Once you have charged the device with the special fixture provided, it promises to work for a week and one can toggle through the usual functions like steps and distance tracker and phone alerts. The HR model also measures heart rate.

To access the feminine features (which by the way are not described in the accompanying instruction sheet) you have to install the Mevofit fitness tracker app on your Android phone. Once you have entered specific dates, it will track periods and ovulation cycle and help women assess the best time to plan a family and provide other health tips. The Mevofit Slim costs Rs 2,990, while the model with Heart Rate measurement, costs Rs 3,490. Money well spent if you are a woman.
