See scientists sip and taste beverages teleported over the internet

Wouldn’t it have been good to get a glass of lemonade or any other beverages at times when you are craving for it? What if its taste could be experienced from a glass of water? And now, what if I tell you all this could happen over the internet?

Scientists at the Keio—NUS CUTE centre have developed a way that could teleport the taste and colour of lemonade to a tumble filled with plain water over the internet.

The technology lies within the tumble. The tumble comes with LED lights that are used to depict the colour of the lemonade and metal strips embedded at the top of the cup to tickle you taste buds with the lemonade’s taste.
"We chose lemonade because sourness is one of the sensations we can simulate using an electric current," Nimensha Ranasinghe, one of the four members of the project and a research fellow at NUS told CNET.

“The simulations are not just limited to that taste. It's also possible to simulate sweet, salty or bitter flavours,” he added.

Below is the video showing scientist sharing their drinks digitally over the internet.
