HyperX Alloy FPS: A gamer's keyboard

The HyperX Alloy FPS is starkly minimalistic and customisable.

Hardcore gamers are a fanatic breed. When they go from one competitive game to the next, they carry their own accessories like keyboard and mouse, and tune these to perfection. Kingston, better known for their memory and storage products, has a separate division catering to these gaming buffs. Their HyperX brand already offered some gaming headphones. Now they have launched their first keyboard, the HyperX Alloy FPS (as in first person shooter).

Inspite of being a mechanical keyboard encased in a steel frame, it weighs just over a kg and sits squarely on the table. You can flip a switch to the game mode which means Windows-specific keys are disabled and 100 per cent anti-ghosting kicks in, i.e., you can’t activate the wrong key by mistake. Another gamer-friendly feature is full N-key rollover — you can press and activate multiple keys if you choose. Gamers like to quickly identify certain shortcut keys and the Alloy FPS allows the users to light up these keys from the back in bright red. The makers also throw in additional red coloured and textured key caps to help identify your custom keys, even in the dark.

HyperX Alloy FPS costs Rs 8,999 and for the price, the makers also throw in a travel pouch, while the keyboard itself features a useful USB port to charge your phone.
