SHARP unveils world's first 8K TV
SHARP has unveiled the world’s first consumer 8K TV range in the world. Called the Aquos 8K series, it will consist of various TVs with an 8K panel, which precisely measures 7680 x 4320 pixels on the screen.
The first TV set in the Aquos 8K series is the LC-70X500 model, which will initially go on sale in the Japanese market. This model will sport a 70-inch display panel with an LED backlighting for the LCD screen. The TV will use four HDMI ports connectivity. The TV weighs around 42.5kgs, which is pretty heavy. In the subsequent days, we expect SHARP to roll-out smart 8K TVs in the upcoming days, which will either run a proprietary version of their Smart TV OS or run Google’s Android TV OS, which recently got an update to Android Oreo’s goodies (Learn more about Android TV here).
SHARP hasn’t revealed the price for its 8K TV yet but we believe that it will be out of reach for the common man. Also, an 8K TV in 2017 faces a dearth of 8K content to enjoy as the world has only woken up to 4K content on a commercial scale. This also explains the reason why SHARP is rolling out 8K cameras and 8K broadcast receivers. However, Japan’s national broadcaster NHK plans to roll out 8K broadcasting sometime in 2018.
