ASUS ZenBook Pro 14/15 with ScreenPad launched

The new range of laptops feature a touchscreen trackpad that promises to increase the laptops' multitasking possibilities.

ASUS has unveiled a string of ZenBook notebooks at Computex 2018 in Taiwan. The new range includes the ZenBook Pro 14 and ZenBook Pro 15 that feature a touchscreen trackpad called ScreenPad, promises to increase the laptops’ multitasking possibilities.

The ScreenPad is designed with adaptive functions along with context-sensitive tools. The screen lets users interact with Windows apps such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and YouTube among others. This sounds more like a Touch Bar that we have already witnessed on the MacBook Pro variants. Besides, the company has added few dedicated programs called ScreenPad Apps that work only on the ScreenPad. Furthermore, the screen can be used as a small monitor — it has a secondary display mode.

In addition, the ZenBook Pro 15 sports a 15.6-inch 4K UHD NanoEdge Pantone validated display with 100 per cent Adobe RGB colour gamut. The laptop is built on an 8th-Gen Intel Core i9 processor aided by up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050i GPU and 1TB PCIe x4 SSD. On the connectivity front, the notebook includes USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 3 ports, gigabit-class Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0. The notebook includes a fingerprint sensor as well.

The ZenBook Pro 14, on the other hand, flaunts a 14-inch FHD NanoEdge display. It is built on an 8th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor and is equipped with up to 16GB RAM and GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q graphics. The notebook features an infrared camera for facial recognition as well as built-in Amazon Alexa voice support. Connectivity options include USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v5.0.
