Mumbai: Consumer electronics company GoPRO has partnered Reliance Digital to announce the availability of its iconic award-winning HD ‘lifestyle’ cameras in India.
While GoPro cameras were earlier available in the country via specific channels, this partnership will not only bring down costs of the products and allow more individuals to adapt to this on-the-go camera replacement.
Rodney Block, GoPRo’s APAC Regional Head- Sales & Business Development, said that the time is perfect for launching the products considering the rising popularity of mobile devices in India. On being asked about the future of GoPRo in India, he said that they will keep on launching products in the country; however, only three cameras will be launched.
Block indicated that the amazing miniature cameras—Hero Session, Hero 4 Silver, and Hero 4 Black—will be available for consumers by the end of this month. The products will be available across 1,800 Digital stores, along with online websites such as Flipkart and Amazon.
He also explained that smartphone photography is quickly surpassing conventional DSLR usage in the country and it is a great time for them to introduce the company’s range of cameras for casual high-definition shots and videos.
The mini-cameras are not only good for recording adventure sports but also for casual life-style oriented camera for people, said Block. He also mentioned that the partnership with Reliance Digital will help them offer better insight to customers regarding the products and kick-start the GoPro culture in India.
Moving on to the products, the Hero Session, which is a simple small unit capable of delivering stunning HD videos at up to 1440p and 8MP still images.
Its small and light design, on-button control, and water-proofing make it an apt option for first time users, who want a grab-and-go experience. During a conversation with Block, he said that the session will be the cheapest offering at approximately Rs 20,000.
Next on cards is the bigger and better Hero Silver 4, capable of delivering high-performance 2.7K HD video resolution as well as 12MP professional quality pictures.
It has also got a touch display, making it a perfect device for both personal and professional usage. This will be priced somewhere around the Rs 30,000 mark.
The last camera that will be available is the Hero 4 Black, which is the most powerful among the three products. It is capable of recording ultra-high resolution 4K videos and liquid-smooth slow motion at up to 240 fps.
This too is gifted with a 12MP camera for stunning professional images. The Hero 4 Black will most probably be available for Rs 35,000.
All of the above cameras feature easy mobile connectivity options such as W-Fi and Bluetooth technology. The GoPro app is also allows users to control the camera and the ability to pull videos and high-quality images for rapid sharing. Also, the company’s new video editing apps for mobile devices—Quick and Splice—give users myriad options to create fun videos.
Other than the three cameras, the company will also introduce a few mounts and accessories, allowing people to explore new ways to capture unique pictures and videos. Reliance Digital will also be selling some of GoPro’s best-selling mounts, including the Chest Harness, 3-way, and Headstrap along with the QuickClip....
