Elon Musk Says Grok 4 Is Smarter Than OpenAI’s GPT-5.
Elon Musk has stated that his company’s Grok 4 Heavy model was already outperforming than OpenAI’s newly launched GPT-5 — two weeks before its release.
"Bottom line though: Grok 4 Heavy was smarter 2 weeks ago than GPT5 is now and G4H is already a lot better. Let that sink in,” Musk wrote on X.
The remarks come shortly after OpenAI unveiled GPT-5, its much-anticipated AI model. Musk also pointed out that the Grok 4 Thinking model had ranked higher than GPT-5 on the ARC-AGI 2 leaderboard.
Looking ahead, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO announced that Grok 5 will launch before the end of this year. “Grok 5 will be out before the end of this year and it will be crushingly good,” he said.
Meanwhile, OpenAI stated that GPT-5, unveiled during a livestream event, is more capable of coding and creative writing as well as reasonig through complex queries. CEO Sam Altman called GPT-5 a “major upgrade” from ChatGPT maker’s earlier models.
GPT-5 is being rolled out to all free ChatGPT users and many paid subscribers, with enterprise and education customers set to receive access the following week.
