Instead of retaining the consecutive version number, IOS19, the software will be named IOS26, which is planned to align with the upcoming calendar year 2026. This upgrade will also impact the I-pads, Mac-books, I-watch’s, Apple Television and vision succeeding to the new version IOS26. According to Bloomberg, The official announcement will take place on June 9, 2025 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Apple is anticipating showing off their design overhaul, which inspired the Vision Pro’s from Vision Os. There are multiple rumors about applications like Messages and Camera being redesigned by the company, making sure to give the consumers space for content and cleaner layouts. Apple assures to have consistent user experience and unite visual language across various ecosystems. Compared to the automobile industry announcing their yearly car models, Apple's method makes it easier for consumers to track the right updates with the following year and can increase their expectations towards a more modern and interactive experience.
Nevertheless, Bloomberg’s report didn’t specify plans of renaming the Iphone models, the Iphone 16 released this year and the new Iphone 17 is expected to arrive in September 2025. The company might release accessories for battery life called Iphone 17 Air. As the new Iphone is scheduled to release in September of 2025, a potential confusion remains for the timing of release. As there are only a few months remaining Apple will use the year 2026 only for the version number. This shift in renaming versions of Apple's decision has already been used by companies like Samsung and Microsoft, However Apple hopes to improve clarity and increase user comfortability.
Besides the renaming strategies, Apple is also bracing to enhance the functionality of Ipad’s making it similar to Macbooks to increase professional use. Apple also provides third-party developers to access Artificial Intelligence models to extend performance on Apple devices. IOS users are all excited for this new update and launch.
