Apple on Monday officially announced iOS 27 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, held at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

According to the tech giant, apps will launch up to 30% faster, while AirDrop transfers will be up to 80% faster. One of the biggest upgrades comes to search. Apple has rebuilt the search infrastructure with a new search index designed to enhance Spotlight and improve search functionality throughout the operating system.
The Mail app is also receiving a significant enhancement. A new ranking system aims to make it easier for users to find the emails they are actually looking for by delivering more relevant search results.
Apple also announced several app and hardware specific improvements. In Photos, iCloud Shared Albums will now support sharing with Android and Windows users, making collaboration across platforms easier. The Health app’s cycle-tracking feature is becoming more advanced, offering users deeper insights and improved tracking capabilities.
For AirPods users, Apple is introducing a new Custom EQ feature that allows listeners to adjust audio output according to their personal preferences. Users will be able to fine-tune the balance of different sound frequencies, including bass, mids, and treble, creating a more personalized listening experience.
Meanwhile, Apple Maps is gaining an upgraded Flyover experience, featuring richer aerial imagery and more detailed visualizations of cities and landmarks.
